Big News!
We secured a
16 300 000 som grant for Next Stop Karshi!
The grant is provided by Uzbekistan Volunteers Association (UVA)
In the dynamic world of travel and exploration, Next Stop Karshi has always strived to put our beloved city on the map, quite literally! Our journey, fueled by passion and teamwork, recently reached a new milestone. We are excited to share this inspiring chapter with our supportive community.
Our story took a turn in August 2023 when Abbos Tuychiev, our visionary founder, met with Shirin Abidova, the leader of the Uzbekistan Volunteer Association (UVA). This encounter wasn't just about presentations; it was about sharing our dreams for Karshi and the incredible progress we've made together with our team. Shirin Abidova saw the potential in our endeavors and recommended we apply for the UVA Grant Program, dedicated to supporting creative volunteer projects.

Emboldened by her encouragement, we started the application process. Compiling documents and crystallizing our goals into a compelling application was an amazing journey. Imagine our joy when we received an invitation to the program's second, more competitive stage! During our application journey, there was a moment when the making presentations challenges seemed overwhelming. But it was then that our team member, Sherali, came up with a brilliant idea that turned the tide. He made an amazing PPT. This epitomizes the spirit of Next Stop Karshi - a collective brilliance shining through individual contributions.

The competition was stiff, with over 300 projects vying for recognition across Uzbekistan. The second stage demanded not just an application, but a presentation explaining our funding needs and our action plan. Abbos, as our project leader, took center stage. Backed by a well-crafted presentation, our team supported Abbos in delivering a powerful and persuasive argument. Despite feeling nervous, he was able to maintain his confidence, which was supported by our shared faith.

Our project's impact, highlighted by reaching 2.0 million views on Google Maps, resonated with the committee. They not only recognized our efforts but also entrusted us with a new mission – to aid in the Google Maps popularization of other regions in Uzbekistan!

We are proud of our Next Stop Karshi Team and our actions to make our community a better place!

The wait that followed was a test of patience, but it culminated in jubilation. We are thrilled to announce that Next Stop Karshi has been awarded over 16 300 000 som in funding! This grant is more than just financial aid; it's a testament to our hard work and the potential of Karshi as a tourism hub!

The grant will significantly enhance our website, allow us to add over 100 quality reviews, and excitingly, expand our team.

Additionally, the amazing news is that we're looking for passionate individuals ready to join our mission – stay tuned for the upcoming volunteer recruitment announcement!
This achievement is not ours alone. It belongs to every
supporter and every believer in the Next Stop Karshi vision.

Your encouragement and faith have been our constant companions on our journey. Thank you for being a part of our story. Together, we'll continue to chart new paths and elevate Karshi to new heights.

With all our respect and love,
The Next Stop Karshi Team <3

Odina Mosque
The heritage of Tamerlane

Odina Mosque in Karshi. This magnificent mosque was built in the 14th century by Amir Temur, a powerful ruler who laid the foundations of a centralized country in Central Asia. It was one of the biggest buildings in the Karshi Registan, boasting minarets and a spacious courtyard. But that's not all - beneath the mosque lies a network of hidden underground tunnels, rumored to have been used by the Mongol ruler Kebekhan for emergencies and secret passages because, before the place of Odina Mosque, there was a palace of Kebekhan.

Bekmir Madrasah
The only Central Asian women's madrasah

Built in 1904 at the heart of Karshi Registan, Bekmir Madrasah is an architectural masterpiece that reflects the city's unique blend of history and culture. It confidently demonstrates how the people of Karshi cared about women's education and their role in the community!

Amir Temur Bridge
The ancient bridge in Central Asia

The construction of the bridge was initiated by Abdullah Khan II. You might wonder why it was built in Karshi. Well, my dear friend, Karshi served as a vital stopover for caravans traveling from Transoxiana to Greater Iran, Arabia, China, Hindustan, Europe, Russia, and back in the day.

Nakhshab – VIII-VII centuries BC
Ruins of the ancient city of Sogda

The results of archaeological excavations have shown that the city on the site of Yerkurgan arose in the VIII—VII centuries BC. In the II century BC, an external fortress wall was built around the central inner city and the area of its territory reached 150 hectares.
